The 2026 IAOS Young Statisticians Prize is now open. We welcome your support as official statisticians and as capacity builders in the global statistical system.
The Prize is awarded for the best paper in the field of official statistics written by a young statistician. In addition to monetary prizes, the first-place winner receives travel funds to present the paper at an international conference chosen in conjunction with the IAOS.
I encourage the Committee for the Coordination of Statistical Activities to promote the Prize widely within your Office, your statistical system and your networks. I also encourage you to support mentoring of a young statistician or statisticians. Submissions have been declining in number in recent years, and your support of the Prize would be greatly appreciated.
A new prize category for Lower- and Middle-Income Country/Region was introduced in 2019 and we especially welcome your support for submissions from developing countries (low and middle-income countries), especially small island developing states.
Information on the Prize and how to make a submission is available at YSP – IAOS including posters advertising the Prize in English, French, Chinese, Russian, Arabic and Spanish.
The closing date is 10 April 2026.
